Happy New Year! I hope your 2017 is off to a great start! I'm currently holed up in a coffee shop trying to stay warm while I wait to pick up Eloise from school. This morning I met a Columbia grad student for coffee. It was a sweet time of connecting with one another over our experiences living in Western Europe (she lived in Geneva, Switzerland for 2 years working with the UN). She also wanted to know how to get more involved in Cru Millennials. It was an exciting time of sharing with her all the opportunities we have to offer from leadership development groups, to one on one discipleship, outreach opportunities, and social connection. So many Millennials, like Aimme, come to the city without knowing anyone and are longing for connection. She heard about Cru Millennials from a friend and came to the Christmas party, which is where we met. It was such an encouragement to me knowing that she lives in our neighborhood and that we can hopefully see each other often.
We've also been continuing to do a lot of outreach to families in Eloise's school, through playdates and being involved in school committees and events. Please pray for me to be able to be full of grace and truth in these budding friendships. Although there are not many believers at the school it is so clear to us that God is moving there. I found out just a couple weeks ago that the director of the school (Amy) is cousins with a lady in my Bible Study Fellowship group. Though New York is huge, it's fun to see that through gospel connections, the city begins to feel smaller and smaller. Please pray for us as we make decisions in the the coming weeks about whether we should send Eloise to Broadway Presbyterian for one more year or if we should send her to public pre-K! We've applies to 12 different public pre-kindergartens (a process that's felt confusing and unnecessarily stressful at times) and we're waiting to hear back. Pray that God would make it clear which route to take.
