New York can be a lonely place to be a Christian, and the first couple of years of living here can be an overwhelming experience. The secular culture that can often seem like it is blasting in your ear at full volume, and at times feel overwhelming and disorienting for Christians who might not be used to this type of intense environment. We designed our leadership development groups to cover the content that would be most important for a Christian living their first years in the city to be able to process this type of content in a group of men or women.
This month, Cru Millennials is launching a new round of Leadership Development Groups, but for the first time we are excited to announce that our groups are not just led by staff, but by a group of committed volunteers who have already been through the material. In January Sam helped to train a room of 9 millennials who wanted to see what it looked like lead a group of their peers through processing this content together. We are hopeful that 3 groups will be launched through this group of volunteers, plus an additional 4 groups from our staff members. That is prayerfully 75 millennials talking vulnerably about becoming Christian leaders in New York City.
Sam is personally launching a new Leadership Development Group on Saturday March 17 with a brunch at our house. There are 12 men who have indicated a desire to be a part of it. Be praying for these men, who go to at least 7 different churches, living in three different boroughs, can grow more like Christ, can be unleashed in flourishing in New York, and be a part of seeing the city transformed by the gospel.
